Volvo partners with UQ and MCAM to design and manufacture truck door handle by additive manufacturing.
Queensland based business Volvo Group Governmental Sales Oceania (VGGSO) partners with the University of Queensland (UQ) and Monash Centre for Additive Manufacturing (MCAM) to design and manufacture a truck door handle by additive manufacturing.
VGGSO manufactures rural firefighting vehicles and has teamed up with the Hub to replace existing plastic door handle components with aluminium components to ensure greater safety of firefighters. The team has successfully manufactured a number of prototype components which are currently under evaluation with VGGSO. A prototype door handle, manufactured at MCAM, was installed and showcased at AFAC2016 (Australian Fire & Emergency Service Authority Council).
